This year, one of my resolutions is to try and workout with my daughters. Right now, they might tag along to the gym with me, or ride in the jogging stroller, but I want to give them a chance to exercise as well.
The problem I’m running into, and this may seem screamingly obvious, is that my abilities are a bit higher then my 4 and 2 year old. Finding something that the three of us can do together so that we all get our sweat on is challenging.
Defined as a “pre ballet” DVD, I thought this would be perfect for Hadley because she is interested in dancing, but has the attention of a tse-tse fly, and I thought something very basic that got her moving would be perfect.
There was jumping, and twirling, and stretching of the arms, and while Hadley was learning how to plie, and releve, I was able to do my squats and plyometrics.
There were bonus features on the DVD like “How to prepare your Ballet Bun,” which I wasn’t super excited about, but Hadley was quite interested in so I let her watch it. All in all, it was a great way for me to get a workout in at home and give Hadley a chance to exercise as well (Harper didn’t participate because she was napping).
